A major contract in which Beach carried out the earthworks as well as the stabilisation.  The formation of a stabilised bund to protect the low lying areas of Lancaster using lime and cement.  We had to dig a 4 metre deep burrow pit to produce enough material to build the bund to the specified height and width.  The clay found at depth had a MC's of in excess of 75%.  We were able to produce a mix design using lime that enabled us to stabilise the 'host' into an engineered fill.  The 'host' material was such that we built a tracked powder spreader - unique to the UK industry.
